What is the Role of Congress?

Congress has specific committees dedicated to the oversight responsibilities for the Small Business Administration. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives have Small Business committees with jurisdiction over the SBA 8(a) program.

Additionally, because the Native 8(a) program is a federal contracting progam, other Congressional Committees focused on government contracting also have jurisdiction over the progam.

Finally, because the Native 8(a) program deals with Native Americans, Native Hawaiians and Alaska Natives and the Federal government’s trust responsibilities, the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs and House Natural Resources Committee and the House Subcommittee on Alaska Native Affairs also exercise jurisdiction over the Program.
